Segmented Mesh Model

Core to Pointfuse is the ability to convert points on the same plane into a series of separable meshes based on their geometry which we refer to as a Segmented Intelligent Mesh Model. This automatic segmentation of the mesh into discrete, selectable surfaces, not only allows the user to identifying and classify objects based on their geometry, but also assigns unique identifiers to them. Example: BIM project collaborators are getting access to ‘as-built’ objects as and when they need them – quickly, efficiently and accurately.

Pointfuse provides tools for a user to increase or decrease the quality of the texturing depending on the use case, providing full flexibility for any visualization workflow. Streamlined Classification

The new streamlined workflow makes classification easy, using templates and shortcuts to ensure maximum efficiency. The ability to classify objects within PointFuse, has had a huge impact on how as-built data is utilized within digital design workflows. Being able to quickly compare specific as built objects with the design to run clash detection, reduces the number of false clashes being flagged, a key advantage of using as-built software.

IFC Mapping

IFC templates can be created and edited for specific applications like architectural, MEP and HVAC so that selected objects can be classified and mapped to ensure compatibility with BIM software. Individual Asset ID's can also be assigned to objects, helping identification and automation in asset management workflows.

A semi-automatic process for simple point cloud scan to BIM, creating parameterized models quickly and easily.  The Space Creator workflow accelerates the use of reality capture in space management and lease survey workflows. Walls, windows and doors within the mesh are converted to simple BIM families without the need for a library of objects.  All editing takes place within Pointfuse itself. No plugins for third party software are required. Small File Sizes

PointFuse's mesh models are intelligently optimized by reducing the number of triangles on planar surfaces while leaving density on the complex geometry. This ensures a high quality mesh model while reducing the working data size by a factor of up to 100x.

Additionally, using the segmentation and classification tools, data sizes can be further reduced by removing noise or classifying only the relevant objects. Layers can be isolated and exported, further reducing the file sizes.
